Adoptive parents:
▪ come from all races, religions and walks-of-life
▪ may be married or single
▪ must have sufficient income to support yourself and your family
▪ must have enough physical space in their home for a child/children
▪ must recognize that adoption will impact their child and family for a lifetime
▪ be open to training/support/counseling to learn effective parenting strategies to meet the specific needs of your adoptive child
Who are these children?
David & Margaret works collaboratively with California's counties to place waiting children.
These children are in foster care awaiting a permanent placement.
We are looking for adoptive parent(s) who desire to provide love, permanency and stability to a child.
These children often:
▪ come from adverse family backgrounds
▪ are often 3 years or older
▪ have a history of mental/physical/medical or emotional challenges
▪ are part of a sibling set
Steps in Adoption:
1) Your inquiry is the 1st step in the process CONGRATULATIONS!!
2) Attend an adoption orientation at David & Margaret
3) Submit your application
4) Complete your home study
5) Complete a thorough and comprehensive training with other adoptive parent(s) to prepare you for adoption
6) Unite your family with a special child or children!
7) Receive ongoing support throughout the process

Orientations are held...1st Monday of every month at David & Margaret Youth and Family Services, Whitney Building from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
One-on-one orientations available upon request!
